Juan Manuel Valenzuela (Whittier, Ca 1974) is a photo-based artist whose practice focuses on dealing with issues of identity, culture, and ethnicity that are at odds at the crossroads of being a Mexican-American. His work criticizes and redefines opinions by making contrary statements to commonly accepted notions and stereotypes. Valenzuela has exhibited his work throughout Southern California and Mexico. He lives and works in Whittier, CA.
