Jessica Guillen
Jessica Guillen is a photographer based in Orange County. Her work explores the peaks and valleys of her mother’s ongoing health battles, the history and journey of her family’s life with a focus on her immigrant parents, and the exploration of her sexuality. Guillen found out early on in her photography career that documenting her life was the best way to speak her truth due to having a hard time vocalizing her emotions. This, in turn, helped her discover parts of herself that she would not have found otherwise and has helped overcome many of her life’s obstacles. With a few group shows under her belt, Guillen showcased her body of work titled “Hasta La Raíz” in a two-person exhibition at Cypress College.
Guillen is currently a Lab Tech for the Photography Department at Cypress College.
